Intro to APRA -Australian Performing Rights

In Australia the performing rights collection society is called APRA, which you can check out here.  As you can see on their website they basically collect and distribute licence fees for the public performance and communication of our musical works of their members.

Every now and then they have talks and seminars for musicians and songwriters and I went to a freebie a month or so back where Pat Pattison discussed lyrics. I was quite impacted and bought his book (and you can check that out on my other blog about my songwriting process: Blogspot Donakrv)

Even though I’m not a pro songwriter I’d played a few pubs with my old band back in the day, so I’ve been a member of APRA, and it’s kinda cool to keep in touch with the music industry and to gain insights into how Australia musicians are impacting the world and how the music world is impacting Australia…
